The Relief Card

Option A: 60 Seconds

Prompt:

What is the one thing that, if handled today, would reduce the most pressure?

Then complete this sentence:

Today, I’m not doing [X]why-i-didn-t-write-a-productivity-book. I’m doing [Y] first.

Use one of these four moves:

Do: the smallest next action, under 10 minutesDecide: one decision, under 2 minutesAsk: the tradeoff you need from someoneDrop: what’s not happening today

End-of-day check:

Did I do [Y]?How does it feel?

Option B: 7 Minutes

Set a timer. You’re not fixing everything. You’re reducing load.

Step 1: Dump

2 minutes

Prompt:

Here’s my stack in safe terms: [paste].Turn this into open loops. Group them as: Now: today or tomorrow Soon: this week Later: next month or beyond Not mine: delegate or drop Use bullet points.

No-AI version:Write your list under four headers: Now, Soon, Later, and Not mine.


Step 2: Find the Load-Bearing Decision

Prompt:

From the list above, identify the single decision that would unblock the most progress.List 2–3 realistic options.State the key tradeoff for each.Recommend a default based on lowest risk, fastest learning, or biggest unblock.

No-AI version:Circle one choice that makes everything else easier.

Step 3: Shed Load

1 minute

Prompt:

Turn the best option into one next action under 10 minutes.Include a message template if needed.

No-AI version:

Move two items to Later or Not mine. Then write one sentence that makes the next action real.


Step 4: Send the Leverage Message

1 minute

Use this when someone else controls the constraint:

I’m holding A, B, and C.With the time available, I can deliver one by [time].Which is highest priority, or what should drop?Once you decide, I’ll move immediately.

If you only do one thing today, send that message.

Success Check

You should end with:

  • one decision made

  • one next action picked
